Cryptic Passage Command Line Arguments?

Postby Corvin » Thu Sep 14, 2017 12:07 am

Was there ever an official patch that addressed the CP issue of not being able to pass command line arguments to blood.exe?

The only one available I'm aware of was made by someone called Timothy, and I guess it only works as a Windows Command line fix, rather than a DOS function??

CP exe is only installing the CP files and then runs Blood, the exe can not pass user arguments (the default arg's are: -ini cryptic.ini -nodemo)
Only if one makes one's own BAT installer it is possible.

Something like this (based of CRYPTIC.EXE code). May not work under DOSBox due to limited batch scripting support.
If you reboot your computer or end game task (under Windows) while it was running - run it again to revert all changes back.
Also you can run this script with additional commandline arguments (note %1, %2, ..., %9) to pass it to the game executable.

CRYPTIC.BAT

Code: Select all

@echo off
if exist ACTIVE.MRK goto mark
echo.>ACTIVE.MRK
ren TILES007.ART BART07.AR_
ren TILES015.ART BART15.AR_
ren CPART07.AR_ TILES007.ART
ren CPART15.AR_ TILES015.ART
blood.exe -ini cryptic.ini -nodemo %1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9
:mark
ren TILES007.ART CPART07.AR_
ren TILES015.ART CPART15.AR_
ren BART07.AR_ TILES007.ART
ren BART15.AR_ TILES015.ART
del ACTIVE.MRK

Return to “Blood”
